Red Nose Day
Last night I was watching Red Nose Day live on BBC One and began to think. I have to do something for this is great cause. The videos really hit home, and I felt embaraased to say that I yet have not done anything yet.
Unfortunately, I am broke, but hopefully you aren’t! At the bottom of every page is a banner linking to the Red Nose Day website. So use it, and donate now. Save a life now.
On other news, I have installed a couple new plugins to spice up my website.
First of all I installed an Author Highlight plug in which with some CSS i can make comments made by me to be displayed in a different font colour. Making it easier for you to see if I have replied to a comment you made.
The other one was called “Comment Timeout” which with some configuration, close comments to previous posts. I have decided to close comments to posts 120 days old, helping cut down on spammers who use old posts. Another option is to limit the amount of comments of a post/page. This may be useful to someone who has open discussions, but for me I felt that it was unnecessary seeing as I don’t get many comments. :(
My portfolio will be changing soon. I have decided that the layout is too much for a portfolio, and the coding is (I am going to kick myself for saying this) is too hard to make cross-browser compatible. I have had some inspiration for a much cleaner layout, from my new phone’s menu! Will be tricky in making the icons, but it should look really nice. :D
Edit: After reading posts about spam and WordPress. I decided to follow the advice on a plugin well known for helping prevent bot spamming. Thankyou ‘Math Comment Spam Protection’. It forces the user to answer a simple maths question to be able to comment.
