My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

New Internet?

After finally finishing my 32 A3 paged Graphic Products coursework, I decided to sit in the common room to relax when a discussion about the internet began. Some of my lovely friends stated that they had heard that a “new internet” was being developed as we speak and that there is talk of “restarting the internet because there is too much junk”.

I found this quite hard to believe to begin with as how would the government, or whoever runs the internet, decide that the internet is going to be restarted meaning removing all websites? Everyone with private servers, or everyone who has paid for hosting would surely loose out? Then to launch a new internet with different, “more secure” code would be ridicolous; millions of people across the world would have to re-teach/re-learn the basics of making a website. Would that be ethical?

One of my friends, Chris, stated “how many pages are there about some teenagers cat on their personal website?” Of course I got quite offended by this. He was implying that all crappy teenagers websites should be gotten rid of. To some extent, I agree with him. How many times do you read blogs/reviews/forums where people are fed up with teenagers making crappy websites and then calling themselves web and graphic designers? On the other hand, I put my foot down and stated that I myself once had one of those websites, not necessarily about my cat because I never had one, but I owned a website which of no relevance and just took up web space. At the end of the day, without that website I would not be on the career path I am now in wanting to become a graphic and web designer, I would still be putting all my hopes and dreams into being an actor or singer when looking at it now looks completely ridiculous.

When I came home, I thought I would look into the matter. Unfortunately I did not come across anything which was recent. I did find some pages however describing how the US and UN had decided to shut down the internet due to the fear of nothing being confidential anymore, but that was back in 2005 - a time where I must of been oblivient to anything but Tibia. If it is true about restarting and relaunching the internet, then I must be in one big deep hole with no light shining in for me to have missed that.

Do you know anything about it, or is it just a rumour?

Ridiculous. Shutting off the Internet would be the worldwide catalyst for revolution and overthrowing the governments. Can’t you just imagine all the myspace teens rising as one to oppose the government? :P

That would never happen. Forget the myspace teens; think of the million HP fanfic lovers! Blasphemy! How dare they say such things?

The junk makes it more fun :D

I’ve heard that rumour too. Don’t know if it’s based on truth or not.

Oh, honey baby, I know that this is off topic but I LOVE your current layout. I think you hit the jackpot with the design this time.

Yeah, I don’t think the net is shutting off anytime soon, because Disney, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are monsters, and I can’t see them allowing themselves to lose business.

As far as crappy teenager sites, and what should happen to them, who the fuck are you to say, ‘get rid of some, but not others’? And your friend needs to mind his own business, too, lol. Granted, the majority of them are useless pieces of net garbage, that serve no purpose, but how is that your, your friend, my or God’s business? ;)

@ Faith: Thankyou :* I thought it was alright, but it is growing on me. I have changed a few things and I love it to bits.
On the topic though, I don’t think they were shutting off the internet forever, just restarting it.
