My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

Theme Feedback?

It seems that this new theme has sparked quite a lot of feedback, and it is all quite positive (if not all!). That is quite strange for me, as I usually get advice from members of at Snark about things which they dislike, would like changed - and me being me - I change because I like to cater for the people around me, but not this time! I love this layout - the colour scheme and structure the most.

As to why I am mentioning the feedback I have received about ‘Machu Picchu’ (appropriately named after the colour scheme), is because I came across hits from a website which praised my ’simplicity’. I love it. Check out the article here. Ego-boosting for the win, in my opinion.

I also received a nice review over at yoursite.nu. I was quite impressed, due to the fact that it is more than a couple lines of ‘Looks nice. Good Colour Scheme. GoOd JoB!” Quote:

Yours is a perfect example of something that is plain but looks awesome.

*Rubs knuckles on shoulder* I never knew it could feel so good to get great praise, it just makes me want to keep this layout forever, but knowing me it won’t.

A more in-depth review of Solipsus can be found over at Harlequin Reviews. I must admit, this is the first review site that I have submitted Solipsus to, and was quite scared at getting my site slated by another person. I am a person who likes to accommodate for everybody, and make sure that as many people like my site as possible. So saying that, I was happy to see that not too many problems were found!

After reading Nellie’s review of Solipsus, I made a few changes like making the whole body background the same, even behind the content where it had an extremely pale cream/almost white background. Edited some coding, added some items to my to-do list like adding to my author page!

My only problem is the colours; some people are seeing them differently. I use a MacBook, and the colour scheme consists of Light Green/Medium Green/Dark Green/Cream/Aubergine (not brown). So if you are seeing anything different, take a screenshot or something and let me know. It would be much appreciated.

Finally, I thought I would note that with this design I have been accepted to CSSBased, CSSGlance. Though not Perfection, or DesignSnack - Oh well, at least it means I still have room for improvement :)

You should see the handstands and cartwheels that I’m doing right now due to the fact that you’ve gone and fixed up everything I suggested in the review.

Ben = made of win! :)

This is a pretty awesome layout, I’m not surprised you’re getting such positive feedback!

I really really really love the half light, half dark header backgrounds!

That’s great. You should be accepted into Perfection in no time, imo. It’s even more surprising that you get hits from a blog like mine to begin with haha :D

Don’t worry about not getting into perfection. They’re a very… strange bunch.

Great work! :D

But I just found some problems on IE7 (school computers, you know) if you’d like to get browser compatibility that is. The ‘Recent Posts’ and ‘Site Search’ navigation boxes are missing their bottom borders in IE7.

@ Rilla
Yeah thanks for the heads up. I was just playing around with the coding and trying to get my Site Search box to work in Firefox! Should be fixed now?

@ Nellie
Haha. Really? I am glad made you happy. Nellie = Made of more win!

I happen to like this layout quite a lot. The purple color (Aubergine, did you say?) is my favorite of all the colors used, and quite frankly, I’m surprised at how much it doesn’t clash with the green! Excellent job. I love the sub-navigation on the sidebar too. My only recommendation is maybe the footer copyright text can be a little smaller?

Congrats on getting featured in those CSS Galleries. Ain’t it exciting, seeing hits from there popping up in your stats? :D

Yup it’s looking great in both browsers now but why is it so big in IE? Like, wow this is huge.

I’m using IE and Windows Vista on my laptop, and your content and navigation are all dropped down below the sidebar. I know IE is pretty much crap (I just haven’t installed FF on my laptop yet), but thought you would want to know (in case you don’t already). I like the use of different shades of green for the sidebar. Also, the frog is a cute touch. :)

I love the frog! :D It looks great in my browser too (FF).
