My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

Pimp my Mac 2

Maybe it’s time for the second instalment of Pimp my Mac? I think so. Turns out I am a frequent visitor to the Mac OS X Downloads site, looking for anything which might help me… anything!

Lifeshaker iconMy favourite as of late is LifeShaker, one of many to-o list programmes and trust me; I have tried a lot. With this one, it makes to-do lists fun, yes you heard me say it: to-do lists can be fun! Okay, overly excited Ben to one side, this programme has the norm categories, to-do list and the possible steps to achieve your ‘goal’. But to make it fun, LifeShaker displays 9 goals from your list in a random grid, so that it isn’t always the same - with the click of a button, this grid is then ’shaken’ to display different tasks and in a different order. If you really need to get something done; simply click the star in your ‘Goals’ list and a nice star will be displayed in the background of that goal on the grid. If you are avoiding something, you can even drag it onto a fire so that it does not appear in our grid, unless of course you only have 9 or less goals overall, meaning you have to get it done! See? To-do lists made fun. This software is available for a 14 day trial, but for full-usage the cost of this software is only £15.09 (or $29 for you Americans reading).

TextmateNext on my oh-so-long list is TextMate, a very well-known and great application for all your programming needs. I personally use this for all my PHP coding - the syntax checker is a major plus and saves the uploading process to find out if there is a problem in your coding. Another thing I love about this easy to install programme is that once saved as your prefered file (.php, .html, etc.) the tags become colour coded (No pun intended)! Unfortunately, this software comes at a cost of €39, but you can try it out first for 30 days before making the decision to buy.

AppDeleteFinally, what use is it recommending these programmes and not offering a way to fully uninstall them. With Mac OS X, you can never be sure if it deletes all the files associated with that programme. Therefore, we have AppDelete. As said before this programme feletes all the files and folders associated with a programme you want to remove completely from yoursystem, by simply dragging the applications icon into the AppDelete trash window. That easy! Even better is that is can be downloaded for free.

I use TextMate and AppDelete, myself. Textmateis the best editor that I’ve ever used.

LifeShaker sounds interesting; I think I’ll download the trial.

Keep these posts coming! I love discovering new Mac apps.

I don’t have a Mac, but I can’t believe you called to-do lists fun! The program sounds interesting, but in the end: it’s a list of things to do.

I’m glad you like LifeShaker, it was definitely one of our aims to make those boring to-do lists more fun. I’m a big fan of TextMate too BTW.
