My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

New MacBook Air?

After learning about the new MacBook Air, I decided I would start a topic about it at Snark asking for people’s opinions on this new ‘revolutionising hardware’ that Apple has just showcased. One day later and it has turned into a 6 page thread, not what I was expecting, but hey, it happens!

The general consensus is that it is an overpriced laptop from which you get little for your money. One USB port? You would think that these are the foundations of a laptop! Everybody uses at least one USB port all the time for their mouse, then need another one incase you need to use a USB portable drive, or plug in a printer. No ethernet? Not everywhere has wireless capabilities in the UK yet, and not everybody even knows how one works and likes to stick with the good ol’ethernet! And lastly, the creme-de-la-creme, no CD/DVD drive! You have to use another computer’s drive through wireless to be able to install a programme, or burn a CD. This is the major turn off for me and along with everyone else.

Of course you get the people who are 100% behind every product that Apple comes out with. People who look past the flaws, saying that this laptop has been pioneered for a different market who do not need these extra features. But having no CD/DVD drive in a new ‘revolutionising’ machine in this day and age is something which I cannot see the logic behind.

I think I will just stick with my 2 year old MacBook which is still going strong and sexier than that ‘thinorexia’ piece of technology (as Jordie puts it). If you feel I didn’t really explain my self properly, seeing as I am tired and out of practice, go visit Jem’s post about it.

Apple seems to keep releasing these new amazing products that they hype up so much that idiots go crazy for them and then afterwards they realise they are really not that good at all. The MacBook Air really doesn’t sound at all good, one USB port is crazy!

I am actually quite surprised, and please, to see that so many Mac users are also questioning some of the decisions behind the new laptop. At least I know it’s not just me being a whining windows user ;)

I would like it if it had a CD drive, an ethernet port, more USB ports, and was black. I’ll stick with my iMac :3

@ Jem
No I think that it is most people, not just Windows. I think Apple have made a mistake in which I hope they will learn from.

@ Hannah
I am with you on that :)

I think I would break it. And then, I would have to buy a new one. Which means I will have to become a Lady of the Night to pay for it! And I will be murdered. And the world will mourn my loss!

So, yes, it’s really in the best interest of everyone if I stick with my cheap, yet functional, laptop.

My laptop only has 3 USB ports. My mom has 5. HP fucked me over. But I agree about the Air. Sounds like a shitty laptop compared to their other ones, but then again, it does say Air. I guess it means “buy our very featureless product because you want something more easy to carry around”. Iuno…
