My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

“The Island” and restoration of hope

Warning: This post contains spoilers.

After years of sitting in my draw, and mass amount of boredom, I decided it was about time that I try and read “The Island” by Victoria Hislop. It took a while for me to get into, but I have finally finished it and found it a great and heart-grabbing read.

From reading the book, a couple of lines really hit home for me and got me thinking about the diseases that are prominent in everyones lives, primarily cancer.

“He certainly did not believe in a cure for leprosy. It was pure fantasy to imagine that the oldest disease in the world could be eradicated, and he would not let himself indulge in such a dream.” pg 379.

“The inconceivable had now become a reality” pg 391.

I just felt that those lines restored hope in the fact that one day we will find a cure for cancer like leprosy. I realise that as a world, people still suffer from leprosy and this would probably be the case with cancer as well, but to be able to help some and give more a chance of survival would be great and a huge step forward.

Well, here is to hoping. :)

Ben
