My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

Learning everything - EVERYTHING!

I know you are all probably getting a bit fed up with all the technical, website talk at the moment, but with my new job, it is my life!

As a Junior Web Developer I am also learning on the job, being trained in different aspects of website building and so far I am finding it really thrilling. I have read a book on SQL, and from that I have been able to work on a clients website to generate unique codes depending on whether the database said they have paid, or whether their purchase date was within the last 30 days to allow a download link to be displayed. Really intriguing and challenging which I love.

My company mainly work using ASP coding, so coming from a more PHP background, I felt as if I was thrown in the deep end a bit, but knowing a bit of PHP and now a bit of ASP, I am left eager to learn more! So much so, I have borrowed books on ASP, VBScript and creating mini-projects using .NET applications.

Along with the back-end languages, I am also constantly learning more about AJAX and Javascript to make user interaction more eventful for the user and better. It’s great - and as you can tell I am loving my new job. Hopefully this thrill ride of learning doesn’t stop, and just to add, I am not regretting my decision of giving University a miss one bit.
