My name is Benjamin. I come from the UK (although I was born in New Zealand) and I have been described as having a ginger personality. Whatever that means. I assume they're referring to my hair and my Ronald Weasley nature. Aside from that, I'm the only male blogger worth knowing.

You can thank Amber for that lovely introduction, but you deserve much more than just a small paragraph showing my nutty nature, therefore if you do wish to find out more, please visit the

Time to throw Spiritualism into the works

On my previous websites I have always tried to weasel my spiritualism into it. Either by posting very occasionally, or by having a separate weblog all together which never got visited and was pointless, but here I am again wanting to post about it.

To start off with I thought I would introduce Reiki, which I use regularly to treat myself or my family. I am currently a Reiki II (2) student, waiting to take the final Reiki III (3) course to earn the title of Reiki Master.

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a system of Enlightenment and a Hands on Healing art developed in the early 1900’s by Mikao Usui in Japan. It is an art that is passed from Master to student. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki, meaning Universal Life Force Energy. The term “Reiki” is used to describe both the energy and the Usui system of using it. The original system by Usui was called Usui Reiki Ryoho.

I was taught Reiki by my motherI am never sure whether to put ‘mother’ or ‘mum’ in my blogs. ‘Mum’ sounds too casual and ‘Mother’ just doesn’t seem right…, Christine, back in October 2005 and have loved the energy which I give ever since. Some of you may think it is barking mad, but I can honestly say it has changed my life. Before Reiki, I constantly suffered from migraines and stomach-ache and now whenever these do occur I am able to quickly treat and get rid of the pain.

On Sunday, I attended a Reiki Share which my mother holds for all her students just so we get to trade treatments and see if we are ready for the next stage. I found it great, I haven’t had the chance to give anybody a treatment in a while due to school work and the internet consuming my life, so it was great to jump into things again and get some interesting feedback.

What jumped out at me most on Sunday was the fact that I was treated by someone who gives off a cold energyWhen giving Reiki, the energy that is channelled through the healer can either be extremely cold or extremely warm to the touch. which is very different to the warmth that is more common within Reiki practitioners. At first I was disheartened that this cold energy would make the treatment hard to relax, but as I got used to it the cold was actually a soothing energy.
